• Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturiser with Alpine Flower FAQs

  • What is Retinol?
Retinol has been deemed the gold standard in the science of age repair; the Vitamin A derivative has long been known to help support surface skin cell turnover, even the look of skin tone and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. What is Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer with Alpine Flower formulated to do? The youth-renewing moisturizer combines the power of nature with the science of Retinol to reveal more radiant and youthful looking skin. Formulated with three potent “age erasers” -Anogeissus, Alpine Flower, and Retinol - Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer works to combat multiple signs of aging to help transform the look of skin. Alpine Flower and Anogeissus help support skin’s youthful appearance, while Retinol jumpstarts the anti-aging process by helping speed up surface cell turnover. The formula’s advanced hydrators replenish skin’s natural moisture reserves to help keep dryness at bay, and the skin healthy looking.

What percentage of Retinol is in Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer?
At Origins, we don’t normally share the percentages of the key ingredients in our formulas. When formulating Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer, Origins highly skilled Research & Development teams understood that when it comes to Retinol percentage, more is not always better. In other words, a higher percentage of Retinol does not necessarily mean that a product will be more effective—and in fact can actually lead to a more aggressive product that may irritate skin. Is there a difference between Retinol and Retinoid? Retinoid is a term used to describe a class of chemically related compounds with Vitamin A activity; Retinol is a type of retinoid. How do I use Origins Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer? Origins recommends applying Plantscription™ Anti-Aging Power Serum prior to massaging a pea-sized amount of Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer onto skin, avoiding the eye area. Limit initial use to every other night for the first two weeks, and then gradually increase to nightly usage. Use sunscreen daily and limit sun exposure while using Plantscription™ Retinol and one week after stopping use of the moisturizer.

Can I use Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer during the day?
Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer is formulated for night-time use only. Is Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer UV light sensitive? The formula’s Retinol is deactivated by UV light which is one of the reasons why Origins recommends this moisturizer for night time use. The Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer packaging was deliberately designed to protect the integrity of the Retinol. The formula is housed in a multi-layer tube to ensure UV light does not penetrate through, keeping the Retinol at its optimum form. Why do I need to use sunscreen when using Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer? Products with certain ingredients, like Retinol may cause skin to become more sensitive to the sun. Use sunscreen of SPF 15 (or higher) and limit sun exposure while using Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer, and one week after stopping use of the moisturizer. Note: while using this product, extreme weather conditions such as wind or cold may be more irritating to the skin, so take the proper precautions to protect your face.

What if I am a first time Retinol user?
First time Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer users may want to use the moisturizer every other night for more than 2 weeks to give skin additional time to adjust; for some, this adjustment period can take up to 4 weeks. For added comfort, use a mild cleanser and/or layer an additional moisturizer over Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer.

Can all skin types use Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer?
Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer is suitable for all skin types however, usage is not recommended for those with exceptionally sensitive skin. Users with a dry skin type may want to use Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer every other night for more than 2 weeks to give skin additional time to adjust. For added comfort, use a mild cleanser & layer an additional moisturizer over Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer. Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer is not recommended for use on irritated, broken or and/or prescription-treated skin.

Can I wax, undergo laser hair removal or shave while using Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer?
We recommend that you don’t use Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer on areas of your face that you plan to shave, wax or undergo laser treatment. If you are planning on shaving, waxing or laser treatment, we recommend leaving a week before and after your hair removal treatment when you stop using Plantscription™ Retinol.

Can I use other Retinol based products while using Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer?

Upon application, will my skin experience any side effects?
When using products formulated with Retinol, you may experience mild redness, a warm/tingling sensation and/or flaking (skin exfoliation). These are common temporary experiences. If you experience increased discomfort when using Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer nightly, revert to once every other night until skin adjusts.

hat will I see when using Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer?
By using Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer you can expect:
    • Enhanced skin moisture and radiant looking skin
    • Smoother and softer-feeling skin
    • Improved look of lines and pores

Can I use Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer in conjunction with an alpha hydroxy acid-continuing product, like High-Potency Night-A-Mins™ Resurfacing Cream with Fruit-Derived AHAs?
Like Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturizer, High-Potency Night-A-Mins™ Resurfacing Cream with Fruit-Derived AHAs is also a nighttime-geared product therefore, Origins does not recommend using them together as they both help speed up surface cell turnover which may result in skin irritation.
